In 2005, we at Llano deviated slightly from our established varietal composition of this blend.  As a result the term Meritage has been removed temporarily from our label.  By the addition of 10.6% Texas Sangiovese to our Meritage blend, we were able to correct a temporary wine shortage created by a light crop of Texas grapes.  Our winemakers do not consider this as a compromise to wine quality because of the added texture and complexity the Sangiovese contributes to the blend.  Our  blend for this vintage becomes Cabernet Sauvignon (45.1%) , Merlot (34.4%), Sangiovese (10.6%) and Cabernet Franc(9.9%).  This wine has been aged in our 59-gallon oak barrels for 10-months.

We believe that wine is a healthful addition to any meal or to be enjoyed on its own.  This is a soft, lush red wine that's perfect for your next social event.  It's flavors complement a broad range of foods from Tex-Mex, Southwestern cuisine, pork tenderloin or grilled steaks.
