NOTES:  Here in Texas, 2002 was one of the  best quality vintages of the past ten years, so when the opportunity to produce a vintage dated Port wine came up we became excited.  The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Port is made exclusively from very high quality grapes grown on the Newsom family vineyard located near Plains, Texas.

The grapes spent an extended time on the vine to develop ripe flavors and deep color.   The grapes were harvested in the early morning hours of September 9th 2002.  This wine represents the best of what the Texas High Plains has to offer and was selected as one of our two, 30-Year Anniversary Wines.

This dessert style wine is rich and spicy with flavors of plum and dark black cherries with it's firm tannins.  If stored correctly, this wine will bottle age very well and should still be drinking well in 2016.

This is a fine after-dinner wine with dark chocolate, fresh fruit and robust cheese, or simply to sip on its own.
