NOTES: The Llano Estacado 2005 Sauvignon Blanc is made exclusively from grapes grown on the Martin's Vineyards located near Lubbock, Texas in the Texas High Plains AVA. At an altitude of 3,400 feet above sea level, the Texas High Plains is known for it's hot summer days and cool nights. Sauvignon Blanc thrives in this intense sunshine on the Texas High Plains. As a result of the cool nights the grapes retain the acid balance necessary to produce a balanced wine of intense character. This wine hints of figs, green olives, and lemon, balanced in the mouth with a clean, crisp acid balance.
This dry wine complements Oriental foods, chicken dishes, cold soups or pasta dishes. It pairs especially well with Italian herbs and spices such as oregano, rosemary, sage, dill and anise seed.
